Duncan Sheik has been hospitalized due to serious health concerns
Duncan Sheik is receiving medical care in the hospital due to a “critical condition” just weeks ahead of his two major Off-Broadway musicals.
On Wednesday, September 16, the 56-year-old American singer-songwriter and composer’s family released a statement on Instagram to inform his fans about his health.
Notably, Sheik’s family refrained from sharing specific details of his health woes and what actually became the reason for his hospitalization.
The statement began, "We would like to share an update with Duncan's fans and the public.”
“Duncan is currently receiving medical care and remains in critical but stable condition,” they added. “Out of respect for Duncan and our family, we will not be sharing any further medical details at this time.”
"We kindly ask for privacy during this incredibly difficult time and will provide updates when appropriate. Thank you for the continued love and support,” the statement concluded.
For those unaware, Sheikh shot to stardom in the music world with the release of his debut single Barely Breathing. His song turned out to be a huge success, as he secured a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
It is pertinent to mention that Duncan Sheik, who has released nine studio albums, is currently involved in an off-Broadway production, which will start previews on November 27, with an official opening set for December 17 at Studio Seaview. The limited engagement will end on February 14, 2027.
