Sydney Sweeney posed for sports betting company Novig, leaving nothing to imagination. The actress covered her modesty with footballs, tennis rackets, and basketball hoops.

The campaign dropped last week, prompting headlines about the Euphoria star’s lack of clothes.

But over the weekend, concern was vocalised among female athletes about the sexualization of women’s sports.

British sprinter Amy Hunt called out the actress during a BBC interview “Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like,” she said after racing at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship. “Muscles. Hard work, blood, sweat, tears. This is a beautiful evening.

Ariarne Titmus, a four-time Olympic gold medalist for Australia, wrote on Instagram, ““I can’t describe how infuriated I feel when I watch this.”

Social media users also trolled the actress for posing naked.

Meanwhile, an old clip of Sydney Sweeney was shared online with claims that the actress reacted to the backlash she has received online.

However, the clip is six years old and it shows Sydney Sweeney crying during an Instagram Live after she found out she was trending for being "ugly."

“Sydney Sweeney crying on live after getting destroyed for her Novig ad The same girl who posed almost naked with footballs and basketballs is now breaking down because athletes called her out. Was this the reaction you expected,” wrote a user while sharing the old clip.
