'Harry Potter' Season 2 expands cast with key new characters

With season one of Harry Potter months away, casting for the next season is already underway.

And the HBO series makers have locked in several new characters for key roles.

According to Variety, Rafe Spall will essay Arthur Weasley, Ron Weasley’s father.

Molly Hewitt-Richards will play Moaning Myrtle, the female student at Hogwarts turned ghost who lurks in the school's girls' bathroom.

Jasper Ambrose will portray Colin Creevey, a sophomore student who admires Harry Potter and likes to take photography.

This announcement comes after the series recently cast Kit Harington as Gilderoy Lockhart, Bonnie Hill as Ginny Weasley, Lenny Rush as Dobby, and Billy Barratt as Tom Riddle in season two.

Other cast members include Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.

Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, and Gabriel Harland as George Weasley.

Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, William Nash as Gregory Goyle, and Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick, among others.

Harry Potter will arrive on HBO and HBO Max on Dec. 25.
