Meghan Markle’s guest role in ‘The Gentlemen’ finally gets an answer: Ted Sarandos speaks

A storm blew up back when Meghan Markle’s name was initially attached to Netflix’s series, The Gentlemen, directed by one of her close pals Guy Ritchie.

Now, he’s finally set the record straight at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles and the answer is said to drop like a bombshell.

For those unversed, even Ted Sarandos, the head at Netflix has decided to speak out.

According to a report by News.com.au he says, “I can't speak to Meghan's work. We're really excited for her and everything that's going on.”

Whats pertinent to mention is that this is the very first update that’s come since Theo James addressed everything at the premiere stage for season 2.

“I think she'd fit in well because she's actually part of the royal family. But no, I think the practicalities of that are impossible,” he said at the time.

As for the big ‘why’, that comes via a separate Page Six source because they’ve said, “Meghan] took it as an offer. And it wasn't. And she thought it would be helpful in the moment for there to be a reason for their move.”

In regards to the earlier rumor that took over the internet in early September, it was rebuffed by Theo in the following words, “at the moment, we’re just trying to get as many eyes on season two, and then season three will happen soon. But in terms of story, we have the overarching ambition of where we’re going to go. We’re going to expand the world, go to different countries. But in terms of the minutiae, I mean, it’s still very much up in the air,” the White Lotus star said.

For those unaware, rumours that the Duchess of Sussex is all set to join the cast for a third season started in August when the news of her return to England along with the Duke of Sussex came.

It is pertinent to mention that it is still not confirmed whether Meghan Markle will become part of The Gentlemen series, which has already its second season on Netflix on September 3, 2026.
