Andrew Scott previously also performed the 'Sea Wall' stage play
The line between the theatre and cinema is blurring in Andrew Scott's new play Sea Wall.
Written 20 years ago, the play is designed and imagined as a one-person play.
Though the run of the play in New York is brief, only from Oct. 16 to 30 at Studio Seaview.
Now, here's where the filming process comes in, under the direction of Tina Satter.
Not simply; the movie will show the recording, and instead of the shooting, it will capture the entire theatrical experience.
According to Variety, it moves from Scott's performance on stage to behind-the-scenes activity, while also featuring audience reactions and the theatre's atmosphere.
With the audience appearing to be part of the overall experience, the film attempts to blur the line between the theatre and the movie.
According to a press release, “In an industry first, ‘Sea Wall’ will be shot for a one-of-a-kind new feature film."
“Conceived as a film about the creation of theatre, the project will not only feature Scott’s performances but also the complete life of the event surrounding it — backstage, on stage and in the house, with the audience at each performance serving as an essential character in the feature.”
Meanwhile, the Sea Wall is a 30-minute monologue. Simon Stephens, the playwright, specifically wrote for Scott.
This is not the first time the actor will perform the play.
At London's Old Vic, Scott performed the Sea Wall in 2018.
