Prince William and Kate Middleton stand to lose it all despite getting another chance to right their wrong
Prince William and Kate Middleton are at risk of completely losing to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and experts just went point by point to explain all that’s wrong.
The expert in question is none other than Daniela Elser, and she penned these thoughts in a piece for News.com.au.
Her piece began with the posed question, “for Kate, what are the chances of Harry and Meghan’s off-brand royalling not stealing all the available thunder?” Reason being, “who would you prefer to read about: Someone doing their duty, or a duke willing to throw himself out of a plane?”
She even threw one question to the readers when writing, “hard workers doing competent jobs and talking about serious issues, or about two people who manage to generate melodrama as easily as plants photosynthesise oxygen?”
As for why this is cropping up now, aside from Prince Harry and Meghan’s move to the UK, what is pertinent to mention is that the Windsors are slated to take to the world stage with a tour of Mumbai that is slated for November of this year.
However, the idea that Prince Harry and Meghan are right in their backyard, powers the ever-present fear of them taking over public attention.
As Ms Elser explains it, “the issue of the Sussexes 2.0 is not just one of our fickle attention, but of narrative and image.”
She believes the Windsors might not even be able to compete with the Sussexes because, William and Kate “have one story they want to tell and sell – look at us helping make the world better!” But, as she puts it, “that message could be lost in the wash of the Kardashian-ness of the Sussexes’ return.”
Her concluding words attempted to drive the point home because the expert said, “who cares about some new clever-clogs solar panels or anxiety initiative when we could be focused on the juicy, human drama of the prodigal, reportedly uncontrite, son and his polarising lady wife who loves a social media post?”
