Daniel Maldini’s licence confiscated after car accident and positive alcohol test: report
Daniel Maldini was taken to hospital for checks before being released and returning home
Cagliari forward Daniel Maldini reportedly had his driving licence confiscated after failing a breathalyser test following a car accident in Milan.
According to Italian news agency ANSA, he was driving his Porsche Carrera in the early hours of Sunday when he was involved in an accident.
The incident came hours after Maldini scored the winning penalty in Cagliari’s 2-1 Serie A victory over Atalanta in Bergamo.
Maldini was taken to hospital for checks before being released and returning home.
“Daniel is fine and has no injury or lesion,” his lawyer Danilo Buongiorno said.
ANSA later reported that Maldini tested positive for alcohol.
His first breathalyser result was reportedly 0.91mg/l, while a second recorded 0.89mg/l. The reported legal limit is 0.8mg/l.
Police subsequently confiscated Maldini’s driving licence while awaiting the results of more detailed blood tests conducted at the hospital, according to ANSA.
The tests will reportedly also check for other substances.
