Prince William wasn't convinced Prince Harry and Meghan's return would be peaceful

Prince William reportedly wasn't convinced his brother Prince Harry's return to the UK with wife Meghan Markle would go smoothly.

A source has claimed that Prince William now feels like he was right to be doubtful. The insider told Us Weekly that while there was hope the couple might return quietly, Prince William, 44, was less optimistic from the start.

“There was cautious optimism that perhaps they would arrive in silent dignity and not stir up drama, but William was much less optimistic than the king and was proven right because right now he’s having an ‘I told you so’ moment.”

The source claimed Prince William hasn't spoken to Harry, 41, and is still upset about the stress the couple caused during his wife Kate Middleton's cancer treatment, which she announced in 2024. According to the insider, Kate had just reached remission when Prince Harry and Meghan's return added new tension to the family.

Still, the source said Prince William and Kate don't feel the need to respond publicly, suggesting that past patterns speak for themselves and that the situation only pushes reconciliation further away.

Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020, relocating to Montecito, California, with their children, Archie, 7, and Lilibet, 5.

Last month, they made the decision to return to the UK, reportedly wanting to be closer to King Charles amid his ongoing cancer treatment and to help their children build stronger family ties.
