Nicole Kidman claims she paid 'highest' price in life after Oscar win

Nicole Kidman recently got candid and revealed that the night she secured an Oscar was one of the heaviest.

For those unaware, the 59-year-old was awarded her first Oscar at the 75th Academy Awards on March 23, 2003, for her remarkable performance as Virginia Woolf in the 2002 film The Hour.

Kidman appeared on the Thursday, September 10 episode of the Therapuss podcast to promote her new movie, Practical Magic 2, where she opened up about how she felt after winning one of the most prestigious accolades.

Recalling her long-buried feelings, she shared, “I was beyond lonely. I had the pinnacle of my success, and I went home and was so lonely.”

The Practical Magic 2 star went on to confess that her loneliness became a turning point in her life.

Kidman recalled, “So, yeah, crazy, though, that sort of the confluence of events where you go, ‘I wish…’ I had my mom with me and my dad, but I was like, ‘Where’s my partner, someone that I can share this with?’”

“It was one of the most profound moments where I went, ‘I’ve got to get a life’ and at the same time, I’m holding this gold statue where you go, ‘This is, this is it. This is the highest sort of prize you can get in our industry.’ And so grateful and yet so lonely,” she explained.

It is pertinent to mention that Nicole Kidman’s Oscar victory came after her divorce from Tom Cruise in 2001, after 11 years of their marriage.
