Philippine Airlines flight to Vancouver diverted to Alaska over safety concern

A Philippine Airlines flight travelling from Manila to Vancouver was diverted to Anchorage, Alaska, after a cabin pressurisation system concern, the airline said on Wednesday.

Flight PR116 departed Manila on Tuesday but was diverted after the crew detected an “indication” involving the aircraft’s cabin pressurisation system.

“As safety comes before everything else, the flight crew followed established safety procedures and diverted the aircraft,” Philippine Airlines said in a statement.

The aircraft landed safely at Anchorage International Airport, with no injuries reported among passengers or crew.

“The aircraft landed safely, and all passengers and crew on board are safe,” the airline said.

Philippine Airlines apologised for the disruption and said it was assisting affected passengers while arranging their onward travel to Vancouver.

The aircraft is undergoing a thorough technical assessment following the incident.

The airline did not disclose how many passengers were aboard the flight or provide further details about the pressurisation issue.

Philippine Airlines said the “safety and well-being of every passenger and crew member will always come first.”
