Jeff Franklin reveals what he calls the 'best thing’ in his life
Jeff Franklin opened up about how he was introduced to Garry Marshlaw in his early days.
The Full House mastermind Jeff Franklin revealed in an interview with People Magazine what his early Hollywood days were like.
Looking back at the time when he was just 21 years old and was surrounded by now-Hollywood comedy legends, “I was in an improvisational comedy class, and they had shows on the weekend, and it was called Off the Wall.”
Noting, “We had some amazing people in our group: Robin Williams, John Ritter, Garry Shandling.”
He went on to say, “It was a really intimidating time and exciting at the same time because I just felt like these people are in a whole other league — and on another planet — than I am. I was just a kid. I was only 21 and right out of college and trying to figure out what I should do with my life, and I was suddenly working with budding young geniuses.”
“And so it was intimidating, but it was also great training at the same time,” Jeff further added.
Jeff had worked as a writer on Laverne & Shirley. He opened up about how his friendship with the legends led him to Garry Marshlaw, the co-creator and producer of the sitcom. “So, as a result of hanging out with those people, a few of the people in the class were discovered on stage, and that led to them being hired.”
Adding, “And I was friends with them, and they eventually helped me get to Garry and get this opportunity.”
It is worth noting here that the 71-year-old has marked a major milestone as he has spent nearly five decades in Hollywood with a successful television career, including Full House, Fuller House, Bosom Buddies, and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper.
Now speaking about his biggest creation, Full House, Jeff described its lasting impact: “Full House was the best thing that ever happened in my life, by far.”
“So not only did I laugh every single day, but that cast and I became family, and here we are 39 years later, and we’re still family. And I’m just so damn lucky and truly grateful to all those fans that kept the show relevant for all these years,” the creator added.
For those unaware, the television sitcom Full House first premiered in 1987.
