Ben Affleck suffers heartbreaking family loss months after mother's passing

Ben Affleck lost both of his both parents earlier this year, revealed the actor’s brother, Casey Affleck.

The 51-year-old actor broke the heartbreaking news at the 2026 Venice International Film Festival on Tuesday during the promotion of his new film, Company, via Page Six.

Casey, who directed and co-wrote the movie, said at the festival that he is dedicating his new movie to his late parents, father Timothy Affleck and mother Chris Affleck, who passed away "this year."

It was earlier announced by the family that Chris died on June 2, however, Ben’s father’s death news did not come to light until now.

Casey said at the film festival referring to his new movie, “It’s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me.”

The Oscar-winning actor continued, “The good thing about being an artist, the best thing maybe, is that you can take all of the hardest experiences in your life and put it into your work, and it just makes you better."

He added, “If you’re willing to face it all, be honest about it all and show up vulnerably with those feelings and allow for the fact that you might not be able to really fully understand them, but you’re willing to put them into what you’re making, it’s a blessing.”

It is pertinent to mention that the exact date of Ben’s father’s passing is still unclear.
