No ticket? New TSA program lets non-travelers past airport security
The TSA’s newly launched program allows Precheck members to go past airport security without a flight ticket
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has reportedly launched a new program allowing eligible non-travelers without a plane ticket to pass through airport security.
The program called Gateside by TSA PreCheck allows eligible members to enter the secure area, to meet someone during a layover or visit an airport restaurant.
Gateside is accessible at 13 airports across the United States including Los Angeles International Airport, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, Harry Reid International Airport, and San Diego International Airport.
The initiative offers terminal access to airport gates, a privilege that has been limited since the terrorist attacks since the September, 2001. On the contrary, children may participate but must be included on their parent guardian’s application.
What visitors need to know
Visitors can apply online for a Gateside pass between one and three days prior to their scheduled visit. The plan comes as TSA focuses on security protocols and security access methods for specifically non-ticketed airport visitors.
Furthermore, TSA began testing self-service ID tourists' checks including Los Angeles International Airport, Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
