Prince Harry’s camp finally reacts to the statement released by King Charles
Amid a slew of backlash, King Charles’ statement about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle being private citizens appears to have landed like lead.
It seems to have prompted the Duke of Sussex to come forward with his thoughts about the whole thing. However whats more pertinent to mention is that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle utterly and completely bewildered and ‘shocked’ with the way things appear to have landed.
According to The Sun, calling them “akin to private citizens” is what landed the worst way and in response their representative claims the couple weren’t told, and in a way ‘blindsided’ by the public release of their letter.
According to the rep, “we were a little surprised not to have been told about this in advance.”
However the Daily Mail has come in defense of the Palace because they believe the statement is “incorrect” because they had been sent a copy of the letter before it was released into the public.
however, that isn’t even the worst of it because a meeting of the royal and VIP Executive Committee [Ravec], is said to happen soon, where Prince Harry’s security arrangement is to be reconsidered.
As for what the King actually wrote in his letter it reads as follows, “It is well known that in January 2020 the Duke and Duchess stepped down from undertaking representative duties on behalf of The Sovereign, and are no longer working Members of The Royal Family.”
“This position, distinct from the State and Royal duties undertaken by the working Royal Family, and with the personal latitude it brings the couple in respect of financial independence and protection of their privacy as they would wish, will continue to be fully respected.”
“It follows that there is no change to the current status of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their styles as His and Her Royal Highness remain in abeyance and are not used.”
“The charitable work of the Duke and Duchess is a personal matter for them both and undertaken in their private capacity. In short, their position is akin to private citizens with commercial and charitable interests.”
