Andrew Garfield drops his shocking wish for upcoming movie 'The Uprising'

Andrew Garfield recently got candid and opened up about the message he wants to deliver through his forthcoming film The Uprising.

For those unaware, the 43-year-old British-American actor is playing Ploughman, the leader of a rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II in a fight for justice, in the upcoming action period drama film written, produced and directed by Paul Greengrass. The movie chronicles “the true story of the uprising that inspired the legend of Robin Hood.”

During a recent screening, The Amazing Spider-Man star revealed that he does not only want a movie to be a lesson for the kings of our time; he wants them to be “scared shitless” after watching it.

He said, “Well first, I hope they come and see it, for first thing. But secondly, I hope it’s galvanizing. I hope there’s some awakening that people feel, that they feel that their own, that we all feel like our own struggles are being reflected in the struggles of these characters from a distant time and place, and that it could be directive. And I hope that if any billionaires watch it, they’re scared shitless.”

“There will be no peace until we are healed,” the moderator quoted this line from The Uprising, sharing that the movie’s director and writer Paul Greengrass believes that this phrase is “true of today as it is 600 years ago, for sure.”

“I’m going to include the billionaires in that as well, because they’re the ones that might be the most soul sick. They’re the ones that might need the healing the most in a way,” Garfield noted.

It is pertinent to mention that The Uprising is scheduled to open in United States theatres on September 10, 2026.
