White House portrays Trump as Green Lantern in new social media post
The White House previously also co-opted different pop culture aspects
Since the second administration of Donald Trump began, the White House has been actively co-opting pop culture.
The most recent is the White House imaging the president as the DC superhero Green Lantern.
On social media, the posted clip showed Trump wearing a Green Lantern-style ring from which a green light emanated.
“In the brightest day, in the blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight. Let those who worship evil’s might beware my power... Green Lantern’s light!” the caption read.
So far, there is no comment from the HBO series Lanterns, which has recently shared its viewership figures, and they are stunning.
In particular, the third-week episode, released last week, registered 10 million viewers worldwide in no less than 4 days.
Breaking down the whopping figure, Variety reports that seven million came from America and three million from the rest of the world.
With this viewership, and with the pilot ranking in 20 million, HBO rated the Lanterns among its biggest series launches and its biggest DC show on the streaming platform.
Meanwhile, the series synopsis read, “Recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and Lantern legend Hal Jordan (Chandler), two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
