Jon Bon Jovi shares reassuring message for fans after vocal surgery setback
Bon Jovi also touches on his recovery from vocal cord surgery, which followed the discovery that one of his vocal cords had atrophied
Jon Bon Jovi has promised his fans he still has many more years of touring ahead of him.
He made the reassurances during a recent performance at Wembley Stadium, a show that was part of Bon Jovi's "Forever" tour that marked his return to the stage after recovering from major vocal cord surgery in 2022.
The tour hasn't been without hiccups. In July, Bon Jovi had to cut a Madison Square Garden show short due to a sinus infection. But on Sunday, he sounded confident and energised.
Speaking to the crowd, the 64-year-old rocker reflected on his long history with Wembley, recalling three shows there in 1995 and multiple returns since.
“It’s a beautiful summer night and I can’t think of a better place to have church than in Wembley stadium.”
He noted that Bon Jovi played some of the final concerts before the original stadium was demolished and rebuilt, and that the band returned again in 2019 to make the new venue their home.
“We had a hope and a dream that we would be back in this stadium,” the musician, 64, continued. “We played three nights here in 1995 and came back many times and those were some of the favourite times of my life.
He continued, “We closed this building (the band played the final shows in the stadium before it closed in 2000 and was demolished and rebuilt) and then they opened this big beautiful new building.
“We came back in 2019 and planted our flag and made it our home again and we hope to come back many, many more times.”
Bon Jovi also touched on his recovery from vocal cord surgery, which followed the discovery that one of his vocal cords had atrophied. "God knows it was a long one, but it was worth it," he said.
The band's Forever Tour wraps up with a final Wembley Stadium show on September 9.
