'Killer' mom 'very invested' in Lindsay Clancy trial

As Lindsay Clancy's trial hogged much media attention, a strikingly similar incident took place over 1,000 miles away in Illinois.

A woman named Corie Walsh has been accused of killing her two-year-old son, Barett Walsh, because she allegedly believed he was a "demon."

Charged with first-degree murder, Walsh has been a regular in following updates about the Clancy case.

According to CNN, prosecutors describe Walsh as fully tuned in to Clancy's trial.

However, it's unclear what the link is between the Clancy trial and Walsh.

Meanwhile, the mom-of-three's case ended on a mirthful note.

The case, which has already been hogging much media attention, has also drawn President Trump's attention.

When one of the reporters asked him about the court case in Massachusetts, the president replied, "It's on television so much, it's hard not to follow it."

But regarding the jury's inability to reach a unanimous decision, Trump was straightforward in his response.

"It's a shame. It's a horrible tragedy," he told the reporters around him, according to Fox News.

As Clancy has been accused of killing her three children, which she herself admitted to doing, Trump also said, "She did a horrible, horrible thing. Can't be worse."

According to the president, after the case has been declared a mistrial, he said he believes the trial will restart with a new jury.

Given the nature of the crime Clancy is accused of, Trump said, "But you'll find out what the price to pay is. It's going to be a mental institution or jail or something."

Meanwhile, deadlock between the jurors, despite 36 hours of deliberations, resulted in a mistrial.

It is possible the prosecutors would retry Clancy with a new jury; however, according to CBS News, they have not decided it yet.
