US diesel prices hit all-time high amid continued energy supply restrictions
Diesel in the US has reportedly become more expensive than ever before forcing drivers to pay record prices at the pump as the US-Israel war continues to hit American’s wallets.
According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the average price for one gallon of diesel in the US has reportedly hit $5.85 relative to the average from $3.71 a year ago, surpassing the previous record after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump recently committed to significantly reducing gas prices for all Americans through an oil deal with Venezuelans. In this connection, the US government will retain 55% of an experienced joint venture partner with an experienced private operator in Venezuela.
Oil is an essential ingredient in car fuel and supplies have been restricted by Iran’s effective closure of the Hormuz Strait-a significant critical waterway south of the country through which oil is transported.
Nonetheless, the AAA’s data in the Western states pay significantly more than somewhere else due to state tax differences from US oil producers. In California, average diesel prices reached $6.81 a gallon compared to $5.03 in Washington.
