SpaceX’s Starlink is officially operational in the UAE following regulatory approval from the TDRA, with residential plans starting at Dh300 per month
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and the official Starlink account have confirmed that satellite internet services are now live in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Musk confirmed the launch on X on Thursday, September 3, making the UAE one of more than 150 countries and territories where Starlink is available.
The rollout follows the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) granting Starlink a 10-year General Satellite Services License on August 28.
The approval clears the network for residential, business, government, and maritime use across the country.
Standard residential plans start at around AED 300 per month, while a “Residential Lite” option is available from AED 230.
Hardware costs vary depending on the equipment, including the standard dish and portable Starlink Mini kit.
Although the service is now operational nationwide, some high-density areas of Dubai and Abu Dhabi have introduced waitlists because of local satellite beam capacity limits.
Customers in other parts of the UAE may have more immediate access.
Pre-orders and deposits were already available following the license approval, with strong demand leading to waiting lists in some areas.
The launch now moves Starlink from the pre-order phase to active service for users across the UAE.
The rollout also builds on Starlink’s growing presence in the region’s aviation sector, with airlines including Emirates and flydubai integrating the satellite network for in-flight Wi-Fi.
