Nvidia's Jensen Huang urges G20 nations to avoid AI rules based on ‘hypothetical’ harms
G20 leaders said that every single country needs to build infrastructure to support they're its own AI economy
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has urged G20 leaders to avoid imposing AI regulations based on hypothetical risks, advocating that policymakers focus on technology’s real-world benefits and instead develop rules tailored to technology uses.
He announced this at a tech-focused G20 meeting in Chapel Hill, North Carolina alongside US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. On Wednesday, tech icons Anthropic’s Tom Brown and OpenAI’s Sam Altman are also due to arrive at the event.
Huang expressed similar thoughts to those of the Trump administration and other American tech executives who shared their thoughts during the first part of Tuesday’s meeting.
According to Reuters, the executives demand regulatory relief around the world for their rapidly growing businesses and want to help shape the rules.
In this connection, Federal’s requirements could have a significant effect on industry profits if they stagger their rollout to oversee how their products resolve security issues.
Furthermore, Donald Trump’s tech advisor, Michael Kratsios announced today that the US is striving to influence G20 members at the gathering to avoid new regulations for AI and focus on outcomes not the mechanics of writing rules for novel situations involving the technology.
