Dylan Sprouse reveals why he considers child acting 'child labour'

Dylan Sprouse has made a blunt remark about children working in Hollywood as he claimed that child acting is equivalent to "child labour."

The 34-year-old actor, who began his acting career in childhood, candidly spoke about his experience of stepping into the industry as a minor and drew an analogy between TV child stars and underage laborers of the Industrial Revolution era.

"Some kids used to work in coal mines and guard the mine cart door when they were 15," Dylan said during a recent sit-down on his Wildmen podcast.

Speaking on behalf of all child actors, he noted that apparently they "just sang and danced," but Dylan "still" counted it as "child labour."

It is pertinent to mention that Dylan worked as a child actor with his twin brother Cole on the Disney show The Suite Life of Zack and Cody from 2005-2008.

Dylan then continued to explain his point of view that despite having a cleaner work environment, the impact on a child's brain is similar to that of a kid working in mines.

He shared, "It's a day job. You go in, you clock in, you clock out, you have a 'cubicle,' you work.

"Obviously, you're on a stage, and it's different, but it's the same hours. You work it like that."

However, Dylan confessed that being an adult actor also comes with its mental hurdles, and he personally finds it hard to evolve his acting style.

"I have my own b******* when it comes to some mental hurdles as an adult actor now in the same industry I've been in forever," Dylan explained.

He further added, "I act like a kid anyway. So, I wonder if I'm just always chasing that... it feels like my self-esteem for a long time was tied integrally to my ability to work and be on set."
