Charles Kelley gets honest about his sobriety journey, revealing who actually pushed him to achieve big milestone
Charles Kelley, the renowned American country music singer, recently got candid and opened up about his sobriety journey.
Taking to his Instagram, the co-lead vocalist and founding member of the country music trio Lady A posted an old image of himself before he became sober.
Kelley posted another picture along with his wife Cassie McConnell beaming as they appeared to be enjoying each other’s company on the water.
He also penned a caption under his post that read, “My best filter is just…not drinking.”
“Swipe to see my before [emoji] my wife asked me if I ever look at a photo of myself before I was sober and think ‘who is that guy?’ This is the one [emoji].”
“I could go on about the many blessings that have come from putting it down way more than looking healthier, but it’s a nice reminder of a place I don’t wanna go back to,” the What If I Never Get Over You crooner concluded.
Notably, this comes after Kelley’s 2025 interview with PEOPLE magazine, where he gave credit to his wife, McConnell, for becoming his rock when he was working on himself to get rid of his addiction.
“She’s the reason that I got sober. She had so much grace for me and went along through the journey with me doing all the work, and I could go so far as to say there’s no way she would’ve stayed with me if I had not gotten sober,” the I Run to You hitmaker revealed.
It is pertinent to mention that Charles Kelley, who entered a rehabilitation facility in Utah for alcohol addiction treatment in 2022, tied the knot with Cassie McConnell in 2009 and shares two sons with her.
