Cara Delevingne opens up about the price she paid for fame

Cara Delevingne has opened up about the lasting impact of her early years in the spotlight, admitting that she once tried to “numb” herself.

The 34-year-old model, actor and musician made the admission in a recent interview, where she then shared that she now feels “so much more excited and open about everything” in her life.

"I numbed myself for a pretty long time and felt numb in general, even if I wasn’t numbing myself to what I was doing," she recalled in her exchange with ELLE.

Cara, who has previously spoken publicly about her struggles with substance abuse, said the constant attention surrounding her career made it difficult to appreciate her experiences at the time.

"I didn’t feel as grateful as I do now because it was just so intense, and I found that whirlwind of being recognised quite difficult. I’m just open to anything at this point."

The Suicide Squad actress is now preparing to enter another chapter of her career with the release of her debut solo album, Not Normal.

Cara also has a music video titledCrazy, Babyon the way. While the song itself was inspired by Cara’s partner of four years, she acknowledged that writing love songs does not necessarily come naturally to her.

“I feel very funny and cliché about writing love songs,” Cara said, joking that perhaps her English sensibilities make her more inclined to write about “darkness and depression.”
