Lindsay Clancy’s trial attracted much attention on social media due to various reasons
After more than a month of trial, both sides — prosecution and defense — have given their closing arguments.
The verdict is in the hands of a Massachusetts jury — comprising 9 women and 3 men — who, according to the BBC, are now deliberating.
The decision could have three possibilities.
Initially, a first-degree murder charge, a lesser charge, or not guilty.
Meanwhile, despite the attention the case attracted during court proceedings, a bizarre moment was caught on camera.
It involved a woman in the audience grinning when the camera panned to her while others appeared solemn.
Several social media users blasted her for what they describe as a creepy expression.
However, it has now been revealed that she is Brittany Romano, a Vanity Fair reporter covering the trial.
That is not at all.
She has a personal connection to Clancy, who is on trial for allegedly killing her three children in 2023.
They were childhood friends and grew up together.
But still, what about the “creepy” grin?
Asked by a streamer, Romano explained.
She shared that when her father was seen on television earlier, he complained that she looked grim.
Now, back to the moment when the camera moved toward her, Romano — thinking about her father — gave an exaggerated grin.
Clancy’s verdict meanwhile, is expected soon.
