Ridley Scott reveals character at centre of upcoming 'Alien' movie

Ridley Scott is 88. But he has not stopped. Still, he has several movies in the pipeline, including the third Alien prequel.

The movie will connect to Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

And according to his interview with the LA Times, the prequel will focus on David. He is the android played by Michael Fassbender.

His character first appeared in Prometheus and then in Alien: Covenant.

Unlike a simple robot, David is depicted as having artificial intelligence, and with it, he develops disturbing, ambitious ideas.

But beyond that, the director has made movies about the pitfalls of AI and high technology going awry.

So, as artificial intelligence, according to critics, has been a key source of threat toward filmmaking, Scott said, “AIs can go off."

However, if it doesn't, the filmmaker made an ominous remark, “And if they do, it’s like a bomb.”

He continued, “I can compete with an AI without any problem making images. But it’s coming, inevitably."

Though, Scott said, “The uneasy question is: Can the AI only be as good as the information fed into it?”

But he warned before capping off, “If I say ‘Here’s a blank canvas, write me such and such,’ would that just be a melange of millions of other scripts?

"Probably. But the danger is it’ll pass that point and become smarter than we are," Scott concluded..
