Dolly Parton Wikipedia 'hijacked' as fans mourn cultural icon's death

Less than an hour after the shocking announcement of Dolly Parton's passing, her Wikipedia page reportedly was hacked.

However, it was a brief attack and the page was swiftly recovered, according to Russia Today.

But the edits to the late musician's page, the outlet said, were deeply offensive.

There were at least three.

First, Parton's photo was allegedly replaced by an image of a swastika - a symbol widely linked with Nazi Germany.

Secondly, the hacker vandalized her page's name by reportedly adding an anti-semitic slur, 'Jew lover.'

Third, the hacker allegedly changed Parton's name to a disturbing phrase: 'Adam Lanza was a hero.'

It is a reference to the shooter behind the shocking 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting.

Now, the page is restored to its previous state, but the vandalism just after the musician's death shocked many of her fans.

Her nephew Brian Seaver announced her death through a video message posted on her Instagram.

“My name is Brian Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I’m representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, Sister, Sis and Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next."

He continued, “This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality."

"As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it til now."

“Rest in peace, Aunt Dolly — Aunt, Granny, Gigi. May God bless Dolly Parton, and may God bless you all. She will always love you,” he said at the end of the message.

She was 80.
