A supposed 113GB GTA 6 leaked build is circulating across torrent sites, but fans hoping to play Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated title early could instead be downloading malware.

Multiple independent checks suggest the file is not a genuine game build and contains a small malicious payload hidden inside a large amount of junk data.

While it is presented as a playable PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI, reports examining the download found that most of its 113GB consists of padding, with the actual malicious payload reportedly measuring only around 50KB.

Commands found after reverse engineering the suspicious file include those which seek to lower the security of Windows. The malware is alleged to try to whitelist the computer’s primary hard drive in Windows Defender while attempting to stop security applications from operating.

The malware distributed via a false game build is said to be capable of stealing saved passwords and login cookies, attacking cryptocurrency wallets, and creating backdoor access to the affected computer.

There is also one more very important reason why fans should not believe this leak: Rockstar Games has not revealed a PC release of GTA 6. GTA 6 is officially confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, which makes any website or torrent that offers a playable PC build of GTA 6 highly suspicious.

How to stay safe from the GTA 6 scam?

Those who have downloaded this supposed build should never run it. It would be best to scan the system for malware right away, whereas those who have run the file may want to change their passwords from another device.
