Take-Two takes major legal action to track down GTA 6 leaker: What to know

Take-Two has reportedly taken legal action to identify the source of recent GTA 6 leaks seeking information from Microsoft and Discord related to the latest gameplay leak ahead of its November launch.

The company has requested that both platforms release any records with several online accounts involved in posting and sharing game leaks. The leaked details included both user data as well and information about any linked OneDrive or Xbox accounts.

The statement for a subpoena filed with the Southern District of New York on August 20 reads: “The copyrighted material includes but is not limited to audiovisual content, artwork, images, dialogue, or other creative elements,”

“Take-Two, through its counsel of record, has submitted a sworn declaration confirming that the purpose for which the DMCA subpoena is sought is to obtain the identity of an alleged infringer or infringers, and that such information will only be used for the purpose of protecting Take-Two’s rights.”

At present, the identity of the person responsible for speaking leaked footage of GTA 6’s world and their precise mode of action remains unknown.

The clips surfaced under the alias “Cyberleek” leaked from a site alongside a declaration calling on game companies to cease practices like digital pre-orders and as fake paid DLC. The group has also been using the unparalleled disclosures to convince people online to buy into a cryptocurrency meme coin to generate major profits.
