Tech billionaire Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have bought a historic Irish castle in County Waterford, Ireland. The thoroughly renovated property will be used by the family when they visit the country.

According to a spokesman statement on Thursday, Meta’s founder and CEO bought the three-storey Strancally Castle from the Alen-Bucklet family in recent weeks.

The spokesman statement reads: “Mark and his family are excited to continue caring for this historic home and look forward to spending time in Ireland.”

The property is a three-storey Gothic Revival House built in 1827 for an English politician in County Waterford. The estate sits on the site of the former Desmond castle and was preowned by the Billensteiner family.

Conversely, its Irish operations also include an immersive technology and spatial computing hub in Cork and a data center outside Dublin.

According to reports, Zuckerberg and his family will continue to live in the United States and use the Irish property for conducting crucial Meta business talks in Ireland.

Reports further showed that the property is estimated to be worth between €20 million and €30 million. Additionally, Meta employs about 1,500 people in Ireland with Dublin functioning as the main center for its global operations.
