'Traitors' host Karan Johar weighs in on runaway success of season two
The Traitors' India season two is sitting at Prime Video's No. 1 non-English title and has also made it into the streamer's global Top 10 Original series.
Karan Johar, a well-known director/prdoucer and also The Traitor's host, knows why.
In an interview with Variety, he pointed to the series' "unpredictable nature" as the reason for its runaway success.
“Judging by the response to the first three episodes, we can safely say audiences are thoroughly enjoying the dhokha [deception],” he said.
“And there’s plenty more paranoia, plotting, betrayal, and, of course, some spectacularly bad decisions coming their way, which I’m sure they’ll love."
Bouts of betrayal and unexpected twists, Johar said, have become the secret sauce for The Traitor's success, leaving viewers clueless about what will happen next.
"Not just the Players, but everyone watching seems to have a theory, and with every elimination, those theories are thrown out the window."
According to Johan, this constant unpredictability is hooking audiences to the show.
"The unpredictable nature of the show is what keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, making the show as engaging as it is entertaining," he concluded.
