Inside Prince Harry and Meghan's decision to relocate to Britain
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly planning to move back to the UK partly to spend more time with King Charles and help their children build closer relationships with extended family.
The reasoning comes from insiders, who believe King Charles' health has played a significant role in the decision.
“I know that Charles is a big reason for their return,” said a royal insider. Sources say the move is intended to be temporary rather than permanent.
Prince Harry has even previously spoken publicly about his father's cancer diagnosis where he expressed uncertainty about how much time they may have together.
“I don’t know how much longer my father has,” the Duke of Sussex told BBC.
Prince Harry and Meghan made their decision to leave California earlier this month after a reunion with King Charles in July.
Beyond wanting to be closer to the King, the couple also hopes their children, Archie and Lilibet, can build stronger connections with relatives in the UK, including extended family members they remain close with.
However, tension between Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William, reportedly continues, with sources saying the Prince of Wales still isn't speaking to his younger sibling.
However, it's unlikely the Sussexes' children will spend much time with Prince William and Kate's children.
The Sussexes are said to remain close with Prince Harry's cousin, Princess Eugenie, and her family, who also spend time in Portugal, where Harry and Meghan have a vacation home.
The couple will reportedly keep their home in California even after relocating temporarily.
Security remains an ongoing concern for the family, as Prince Harry has previously spoken about the challenges of bringing his family to the UK without adequate protection. He is currently awaiting a decision from a government security review board.
