Ryan Gosling, Shawn Levy's Hollywood partnership about to get even bigger?

Ryan Gosling and Shawn Levy are expanding their partnership!

As Levy directed Gosling in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, he has revealed that the actor has become more than a leading man to him.

In an interview with People Magazine, the director shared that Gosling's involvement in the Starfighter went far beyond acting.

He said, "Some actors are great muses, right? Some actors are just amazing on screen and you’re inspired telling that story."

Adding, "The thing about Gosling is he’s a great muse and he’s inspiring, but he’s also a great partner."

Furthermore, Levy noted that Gosling's contribution isn't just about performing in front of the camera. "He’s an artist. He’s an incredible actor, but he’s also thinking about the lighting, the fabric on the wall. He’s noticing everything."

It is pertinent to mention that Gosling was also involved in the filmmaking process as an executive producer for Starfighter. Levy said, "He was very much a fully proactive partner alongside me and Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of our crew in telling this story."

Noting, "So he’s both [for] views and collaborating."

On the other hand, Shawn Levy also shared how the collaboration was particularly meaningful for him. He explained, "“The truth is when you’re making a Star Wars movie, you are very connected to the Star Wars moments that inspire you. But I would actually say that every movie I’ve ever made has been inspired by Star Wars memories."

"We had a really good time making this movie and it’s not just because we’re both Canadian, although that did lead to a certain baseline civility on set," he also joked about working with Ryan Gosling.

Praising the Ken from Barbie, Levy also said that he "loves delighting the audience."

He added, "he’s done a lot of independent films, but he’s in a sweet spot where he is getting the opportunity to do big canvas storytelling and playing characters that sort of have all the colors, comedic and emotional."

With the successful collaboration between the duo, they reportedly began discussing what they could work on together next. Their answer was Marvel’s Ghost Rider, with Gosling set to play the iconic character and Levy directing.

For those unaware, Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Gosling as Kade Auberon, is scheduled to hit theaters May 28, 2027.
