US Vice President JD Vance joined his son on a Marine obstacle course, sharing a lighthearted TikTok that offered a glimpse of his military background
U.S. Vice President JD Vance is breaking the internet after recently sharing a video on TikTok featuring himself and his son taking on a U.S. Marine Corps obstacle course.
In the playful clip, Vance humorously joked that his primary goal during the physically demanding challenge was trying "not to bust by a***."
The post offered followers a casual, lighthearted look at the Vice President—who previously served in the Marine Corps as a combat correspondent from 2003 to 2007, as he navigated training-style activities alongside his son.
The activity has an obvious connection to Vance's background as he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2003 to 2007, working as a combat correspondent with the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing and reaching the rank of corporal. He was deployed to Iraq in 2005 in a public-affairs role.
The video also attracted attention because Vance appeared to be taking on the same type of physical training associated with Marines nearly two decades after leaving the service.
Some coverage characterized his performance as a struggle to keep pace with the course.
The appearance comes after Secretary of War Pete Hegseth participated in a military-themed physical-training activity with Marines earlier this year, giving Vance's video an additional military-training angle.
