The Spanish World Cup winner Rodri is set to join Barcelona after reaching a deal with Manchester City to sign midfielder.
The 30-year-old is expected to sign a four-year deal for a fee of around 75 million euros as per reports.
"In the coming days there will be a statement and (the transfer) will become official," said the Barcelona source.
Last week, Manchester City rejected Barcelona's initial £38.5 million bid for Rodri, as the midfielder approached the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
The announcement of the latest high-profile transfer drew the response from Piers Morgan.
Taking to X, the renowned broadcaster posted, “Great news… for Arsenal.
And another scoop from the best in the transfer business. Congrats, Fabrizio.”
Rodri, who plays for Manchester City, Arsenal’s primary Premier League title rivals, missed the 2026 Community Shield against Arsenal after recently undergoing minor back surgery.
Speaking after Manchester City’s defeat by Arsenal on Sunday, new boss Enzo Maresca paid tribute to Rodri, “Rodri is a player who just won the World Cup and Ballon d'Or. He's a top player, all the teams need a Rodri, so it's not about if we miss Rodri or not.”
Under Rodri captaincy, the City won 12 major honours, including four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three EFL Cups and the Champions League in 2022-23.
