Instagram last updated its design in 2026 transitioning from the rainbow stripe to a smooth pink gradient that remains iconic today
Instagram unveiled a redesigned wordmark in a decade on Thursday updating the familiar text logo that spells out the company’s name.
The updated design keeps elements of Instagram’s original style while introducing a modernized visual style.
The major change was announced by Instagram head Adam Mosseri on both Instagram and Threads where he detailed the new logo as sharper and more modern while still origin-focused and maintained simplicity.
He further asserted that although people can be resistant to change especially when it comes to brands and the logos, they have been familiar with, Instagram’s updated design is drawing positive feedback and praise for its font choices.
This time it is fair to say that the name “Instagram” is such an iconic brand that most people will immediately know what this explained despite the artistic detailing.
The wordmark’s font recollects cursive writing as it adds old-fashioned curves to the “s”, “r” and “g”. The new feature seems to be intriguing as younger generations are no longer learning to write in cursive for the most part but now understand why the shape that appears like a sail on a boat is actually an “s.”
