Rubio backs Trump’s Middle East strikes, says Iranian regime must change
Rubio shed light on the nature of the Iranian regime and Trump’s underlying political and military objectives behind launching strikes
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared that the Iranian regime must change, endorsing President Donald Trump’s military campaign in the Middle East claiming that Tehran must give up its global dominance, in an interview with Fox News on Saturday.
During the conversation with Lara Trump, Rubio discussed the continuous risk of Iran’s nuclear development program indicating that US President Donald Trump stands firm and will never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons.

“They want to export the revolution. That does have to change, and the only way you’re going to change that is if you make the price of it too high for them to be able to pay,” Rubio said.
“I don’t think the Iranian regime has ever faced a president like President Trump, which is someone that actually takes action,” the secretary of state said. “They got used to, for 20 or 30 years, not just the US but the broader world allowing them to get away with things like lying, breaking deals, tricking people into agreements, and so forth.”
Rubio also mentioned that because of Trump’s military campaign in the Middle East, Iran no longer has a traditional missile shield to hide behind; and that they are still armed with missiles and drone capabilities.
Regarding the current geopolitical tensions, Rubio said: “ It's the only reason why they are now willing and in some cases seem eager to do a deal on denuclearization to do a deal on the straits. Because we are now approaching them from a position of strength, not from a position of weakness.”
Donald Trump announced that he had halted a planned attack against Iran after the several Middle Eastern countries agreed to a framework for a peace deal.
In a post on Truth Social, the US president asserted he was asked by Iran and other countries in the Middle East to hold off any attack as the perimeters of a deal which could include reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending Iran’s nuclear threat had been agreed upon.
During the interview, Lara Trump also asked about the current Ukraine-Russia war with Rubio underscoring the US’s distinct role in settlement talks to bring the conflict to an end.
Rubio expressed, “ We are the only country in the world and Trump’s the only leader in the world that can bring the Russian side and the Ukrainian side to begin to talk about how you end it.”
He was of the view that the former ambassador penetrated the highest levels of the Defense Intelligence Agency marking one of the largest-scale intelligence breaches in US history.
The interview ended with a personal insight with Rubio demonstrating his role as a husband, father and college football fan.
