Drew Starkey reveals why he 'cried' on set of Netflix show 'Outer Banks'

Drew Starkey recently got candid and opened up about how he felt leaving the set of Outer Banks.

The 32-year-old American actor appeared on the Thursday, July 30 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where he talked about the fifth and final season of the Netflix series.

Starkey told Fallon that his last moments on the set of Outer Banks made him extremely emotional, becoming a “bittersweet” memory that he will cherish forever.

He said, “It was totally bittersweet. We spent seven years on that show and those are my best friends and I felt, the last couple months of filming, I thought I was fine. I thought I was a sociopath. I was like, ‘I feel nothing, I’m ready to get out of here, I don’t care.’”

However, a strong realization hit the Hellraiser star while filming “the last shot of my last scene, right when they yelled ‘cut,’ I was just weeping. Like, constantly.”

Starkey quipped, “I cried for a solid two hours and crew members kept coming up to me, I was like, ‘I’m good.’ And then someone would walk up and I’d [cry].”

“It was like all these memories flooding back. I started the show when I was 25. I’m 32 now. So, it was such a sentimental time,” he admitted.

It is pertinent to mention that Drew Starkey plays Rafe Cameron in the series Outer Banks, which will conclude after its fifth season, set to be released on August 20, 2026. Watch the full trailer here.
