Olivia Cooke looks back at 'bad' audition that 'let down everyone’

Olivia Cooke had a breakout success with House of the Dragon, where she portrayed Alicent Hightower.

However, before the HBO series, she aimed for a galaxy far, far away.

Yes, Star Wars.

The actress even auditioned for the much-sought-after role of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Yet, it went awry.

In Cooke's words on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, she shared, “I did audition a few times for the other one, where Daisy Ridley got [it]."

“But you know, everyone and their dog auditioned for that," the actress joked.

Looking back, Cooke admitted her performance in the audition was poor.

“I think I auditioned once in L.A., and then once with J.J. [Abrams]. And I was s***. I was really bad."

The audition was so poor, Cooke shared that she had felt bad for herself and everyone else in the room.

“You know when you go into an audition, and you’re just not bringing it and you’ve let yourself down, you’ve let everyone down in the room?”

Rey was ultimately played by Daisy Ridley, launching her career into stardom.

Cooke, on her part, has no regrets as she raved about Ridley's performance in the Star Wars franchise.

“Daisy did such an amazing job; I just wasn’t that kind of an actor at that time. It just wasn’t a fit."

Meanwhile, the first episode of House of the Dragon season three has been dropped on HBO Max.
