A video of Kate Middleton comforting a hero police officer has been circulated online with misleading claims on social media.

The Princess of Wales met George Cross hero Tony Glendhill who was among the hundreds of guests invited to Buckingham Palace on Tuesday for a reception to mark 100 years since the birth of the late Queen..

In the video Princess Catherine is seen comforting Glendhill with a tender hug after an emotional meeting at the palace.

However, the same video garnered over two million views when an X account shared it with the caption," Kate Middleton making an ill advised move to hug this grandpa and he places his hands on her thighs to catch a feel. She very quickly removes his hands, whole scene looking totally uncomfortable."

X's "Readers added context" explained that it was not an uncomfortable encounter as claimed in the X post rather it was emotional and touching.
