Kate Middleton’s chilling truth hits Oliva Mann ‘hard’ during cancer battle

Olivia Munn recently stated that Kate Middleton’s one piece of advice helped her immensely during her battle with cancer.

For those unaware, Olivia was diagnosed with aggressive bilateral luminal B breast cancer stage 1 in April 2023 when her physician calculated a 37.3% lifetime risk using the Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool (BCRAT). She underwent surgeries, including a double mastectomy, and now she is on hormone suppression therapy.

On the other hand, Kate, the Princess of Wales, was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in March 2024. After undergoing abdominal surgery and chemotherapy, she is now in remission, adjusting to a new normal life.

During a recent media event organized to promote Apple TV’s Your Friends & Neighbours, Olivia chatted with PEOPLE magazine and opened up about the challenges cancer patients face, especially after their first rounds of treatment.

She shared, "I've been open about this, that with breast cancer, there's so much medication afterwards for certain people.”

“And for someone like me — and the type of breast cancer I had, and how aggressive it was, and for the age I am, and not having been premenopausal when I was diagnosed — there's so many more medications I have to take. And there are a lot of side effects and they have been really hard on me,” the X-Men: Apocalypse star explained.

Olivia admitted that she was “hard” on herself and would ask her pals about the symptoms as they were taking the same treatment but “none of them did.” Not even a single person faced “exhaustion or mood swings or body aches,” which made her realize that she was the only one “getting this.”

Notably, she took a sigh of relief when the Princess of Wales shared something related to cancer that resonated with her.

The Predator actress quipped, “Kate Middleton had talked about this recently, and she said it so succinctly [and] it really touched me and gave me such a sense of peace, because I finally had words behind it.”

“She was like, ‘You think that the big things are the things you have to worry about,’ — I'm paraphrasing her — ‘But it's the treatment after you've gone through the big things that's really taxing and hard on you.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, somebody else is feeling that.’”

“That's where it feels really good … when you hear other people's experiences, because it is true — you feel so much better when you know you're not alone,” Olivia Mann confessed.
