Sofia Mattsson recently got candid and opened up about her journey from General Hospital to Days of Our Lives.

For those unaware, Mattsson started playing Shasha Gilmore on General Hospital on September 18, 2018, in a recurring role. Later, she became a series regular and remained on the show for seven years till her final episode on July 18, 2025.

Now, the 34-year-old Swedish-American actress is set to become part of Days of Our Lives, revealing to PEOPLE magazine that the team is shaping up her character, which will be great addition to the franchise.

She told the outlet, “The role is very complex and interesting and I also just love working in daytime. It’s such a fun challenge as an actress since it’s so incredibly fast paced and always very high stakes circumstances.”

Mattsson went on to note that landing a new opportunity came with new challenges, as she “was a bit nervous for sure."

“But having been on General Hospital helped ease a lot of worries, as I’m already very familiar with the concept and structure of a daytime show,” she quipped.

When it came to her role and what her fans can expect from her undisclosed role, the Gothic Harvest star teased, "Lots of fun, exciting storylines and drama."

Reflecting on her journey on Days of Our Lives, Mattsson said, “It’s been wonderful. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful. It’s a really happy vibe. And the talent is amazing, both cast and crew.”

It is pertinent to mention that Days of Our Lives, which started in 1965, is currently in its 61st season.
