Jack Hughes delivered a standout performance as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Washington Capitals 7-3 in their clash on Thursday night.

His first goal came 9:10 into the second period with a wrist shot, assisted by Jesper Bratt and Johnathan Kovacevic. He struck again 8:10 into the third period, once more set up by Bratt along with Connor Brown.

Hughes now has 24 goals and 44 assists this season.

Dawson Mercer also scored twice for New Jersey, while Bratt, Dougie Hamilton and Cody Glass added further goals to complete the scoring.

For the Capitals, Tom Wilson, Pierre-Luc Dubois and Cole Hutson each scorefd, but Washington struggled to contain the Devils’ attack throughout the game.

Goaltender Jake Allen made 29 saves to secure the victory for New Jersey. At the other end, Logan Thompson stopped 23 shots for Washington.
