Google Cloud has entered a 5-year AI-powered partnership with Liberty Global, signalling a paradigm shift in the telecom industry.
Under the strategic agreement, the telecommunication company will deploy Google’s Gemini, cloud tools and other artificial intelligence models across its operations.
As reported by Reuters, the users would also leverage new consumer services, including customer-based automation and AI-powered search and discovery on Horizon TV platform.
Moreover, Google products, such as Pixel phones, smart watches and home devices would be deployed through Liberty’s operation units working in Britain, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Belgium.
The expansion of existing partnership will not only improve network security and reliability and continue autonomous network operations but also make use of Google Cloud’s cutting-edge capacity.
According to Tara Brady, Google Cloud president for the EMEA region, the goal of the company revolves around using technology to simplify complicated tasks and bring value to customers.
The deal will also bring dividends for small-business customers by giving access to cybersecurity, AI and cloud-based services. It will also explore the options to monetise Liberty’s telecom data without compromising privacy.
In recent years, the tech giants are exploring collaborations across the telecoms sector and investment opportunities in 5G and fibre.
