Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 34 points to lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 121-111 win over the Denver Nuggets on Sunday night.
Gilgeous-Alexander also added 13 assists as the Thunder came out from a rough stretch after losing three of their previous four games.
Oklahoma City leaned heavily on its outside shooting, while the Thunder went 8-of-13 from beyond the arc in the third quarter, turning a seven-point halftime lead into a 16-point edge.
Cason Wallace delivered the best scoring night of his career finishing with 27 points . Oklahoma City took a 62-55 lead into halftime after leading by as many as 14 points in the first half.
Denver never held a lead in the game despite strong play from Peyton Watson who scored a team-high 29 points.
Nikola Jokic scored 16 points in his second game back from a knee injury, while Jamal Murray finished with 12 points and 12 assists. Both teams were missing several starters due to injuries.
The matchup marked the first of four meetings this season between the top two teams in the Western Conference and their first since Oklahoma City eliminated Denver in last year’s playoffs.
