Inside the property, officers found the body of a woman in her 40s who had suffered fatal head injuries. Reports later described the attack as violent, with Fox11 citing sources who said an axe was used.

The suspect, identified by media outlets as an off-duty member of the Glendale Fire Department, was taken into custody shortly after the grim discovery.

According to Fox11, the firefighter had earlier flagged down officers near the LAPD’s Northeast Station, telling them he was worried because he had been unable to contact his wife and asked police to check on her.

When officers arrived at the address, they made the disturbing find and launched an immediate homicide investigation. The firefighter was detained at the scene and later allegedly confessed to killing his wife, according to the same report.

Police have not released the woman’s name, and no motive has yet been confirmed.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events behind the deadly attack.
