Meghan Markle has been urged to be careful as she shapes her social media presence, with experts warning that the wrong approach could work against her.
Since returning to Instagram, the Duchess of Sussex has offered glimpses of her professional projects and family life, but a PR specialist said that winning over the public will depend on her tone and content.
PR expert Rhea Freeman shared an advice to Meghan, saying that she would benefit from focusing on wider causes rather than herself.
"Perhaps, instead, looking at relatable points that her audience can connect with? Maybe New Year’s Resolutions and what she’s looking to remove from her life this year?” the expert told The Express.
She continued, “Or looking to gain and develop? Sharing goals around things connected to this? She could then tie this into her brand."
"That said, she’d need to be careful with this if she’s looking to win people over. It would be a clever move to have these goals and resolutions aligning with bigger themes - such as spending more time with friends would be a good one (with some carefully placed products in the visuals), but ‘growing my range of jams’ wouldn’t land anywhere near as well.
"Another thing she could do would be to move the focus away from her, and onto the causes she supports, asking key people connected with them about their vision for the next 12 months? This would be interesting content, would show more depth, and also highlight causes close to her heart."
