Andrew’s public role all but over after King Charles tough new measures

King Charles’ decision to remove two more honours from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is seen as a clear sign that the “disgraced” former royal is unlikely to appear in public much anymore.

Once believed to be the late Queen Elizabeth’s favourite child, the former Duke of York has now been stripped of nearly all major royal roles.

After being stripped of his Prince title in October, Andrew has now been removed from the Order of the Garter as well, as per The Gazette.

The monarch has also directed that his Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order be cancelled.

The statement about his Order of the Garter read, “THE KING has directed that the appointment of Andrew Albert Christian Edward MOUNTBATTEN-WINDSOR to be a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, dated 23 April 2006, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.”

“THE KING has directed that the appointment of Andrew Albert Christian Edward MOUNTBATTEN-WINDSOR to be a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, dated 19 February 2011, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.”

Now, speaking with New Idea Magazine, an insider said Andrew’s fall in status is so serious that the palace wants him to stay out of the public eye.

“It’s a stunning humiliation for Andrew, who was long believed to be the late Queen Elizabeth’s favourite child,” they told the publication.

“It’s a complete fall from grace, and it’s unlikely he’ll be seen publicly, in the future, very often.”
