Meghan Markle mocked by Duchess over recent move

A Duchess has seemingly mocked Meghan Markle’s frequent use of her title of Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020 after a tumultuous time with the Royal Family. They were allowed to keep the titles but were told not to use them for commercial purposes.

Meghan recently made headlines with her Harper’s Bazaar interview. The cover story mentioned that Meghan was announced as the Duchess of Sussex when the interviewer was the only other person there.

Kaitlyn Greenidge wrote, "We’re in a grand brownstone on the Upper East Side that belongs to one of Meghan’s friends. When I enter, the house manager announces, ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,’ even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house."

Now, the Duchess of Northumberland has seemingly taken a swipe at Meghan.

In her new interview with The Telegraph, she shared her vision for when her son, George, eventually replaces his father as the Duke. She noted that she doesn’t use he title very much, since it might just do more harm than good.

The Duchess, whose name is Jane Percy, said: "Unlike other Duchesses who put their names everywhere, I’m not using my title. I’d say it could be detrimental as one or two Duchesses haven’t really helped the cause lately."

Meghan's use of the title has been criticized by many roal commentators, including the Daily Mail’s Maureen Callahan, who said: "Call her the Duchess of Delusion. In a new cover profile for Harper's Bazaar, in which Meghan Markle claims, yet again, to finally be free to tell her story — we've only heard this every hour, on the hour, since Megxit — we are treated to a tableau like no other. So much for Meghan's title meaning nothing."

"Clearly, it means everything to her — the only thing, aside from her ever-present victimhood, that makes her feel validated. Worthy. Important. What a ridiculous, empty person she is. How deeply uncool," she added.
