Request to delay identity parade angers ATC judge

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court Islamabad, expressed anger at the police request to postpone the identity parade of arrested workers of a banned religious party.

Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain was hearing the case during which the police requested to postpone the identity parade. Expressing anger Judge Zulqarnain said these people are not sheep and goats, their family members have been suffering for several days; what is their fault? Why don’t you follow the procedure and why are you asking for postponing the identity parade now.

Later he summoned the relevant SSP and SSP Investigation Usman Tariq appeared in the court. The ATC judge asked the SSP if he was under pressure of the IGP to delay the process. He warned the SSP of dismissing the case if the identity parade is not concluded in two or three days. The court later adjourned the hearing.

In another case, Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Abu Hassanat Muhammad Zulqarnain handed over an accused to the police on a 14-day physical remand. Aqib Naeem was arrested for alleged violence against traffic police personnel in Sector I-8, Islamabad. The police presented the accused in the court and requested a 30-day physical remand to recover wireless set and a pistol.

However, the court approved the 14-day physical remand. Nadeem is accused of subjecting traffic police personnel to violence in Sector I-8 and the case for the same was registered in the I-9 police station.
